1981-2011

Richard died peacefully in his sleep on 10th January 2011 at home in Manchester, aged 29 years. Husband, best friend and soulmate of Sarah. Beloved son of Gail and Butch and brother of Glenn, he will be loved and missed by all his family and friends.

A professional footballer who made more than 300 Football League appearances for Lincoln City, Oldham Athletic, Peterborough United, Notts County and Macclesfield Town having also represented Northampton Town, Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering Town, Richard's memory will live on and any donations made via this website or direct into the Fund's bank account will be used for his chosen causes.

Lincoln 10k Road Race

In 2010 Richard ran the Lincoln 10k in honour of Keith Alexander. Never would we have imagined that this year we would be running in memory of them both.

Richard's team mates, past and present, along with friends and wife Sarah took to the streets of Lincoln and between them managed some more than respectable times. Even more important, however, was the funds that will come in through sponsorship.

We would like to thank everyone who sponsored the runners and thank those who took part in Richard's memory.

Almost £2,000 Raised At Matches

Richard's family and friends would like to thank everyone who donated at the recent npower League 2 game between Lincoln City and Rotherham United on Friday 25 March 2011.

A total of £1,382.42 was raised for The Richard Butcher Memorial Fund and this follows on from £569.11 which was raised at a collection at the Macclesfield Town v Lincoln City match at at Moss Rose on Tuesday 15 March 2011, the first meeting between the two clubs since Richard's death.
